Review: Larry Greene "Harlan Cage - Forbidden Colors"

Los Angeles, CA's group Harlan Cage is formed around ex-Fortune vocalist/guitarist Larry Greene and keyboardist/vocalist Scott Craig, plus Billy Liesegang (Glenn Hughes) on guitars and Ron Wikso (Foreigner) on drums.

This new album exudes class and out-of-this-world pure pomp/AOR art from start to finish.

There isn't a single dull moment here, just magnificent keyboards and vocals full of passion.

The dramatic choruses - one of Harlan Cage's landmarks - are even better and once again transported me to the glory days of pomp rock back in the 80's, keeping the tradition of Fortune's masterpiece debut Self-Titled album released in 1985 (which is rated an all time classic by followers of AOR/Melodic Rock around the world).

The state-of-the-art arrangements worked out just fine, providing truly moments of joy during the listening of epic songs "Can't Tame the Raven" and "Last Plane Out". Y'know it's amazing how those guys know how to do good songs, as Forbidden Colors is full of catchy refrains and unforgettable melodies everywhere, I just took the CD booklet and started singing along from track number one "No Sunday Bride" to the last "Two Ships in the Night". No matter which song you listen to, you just can't go wrong, because everything shines within the twelve songs on this blessed album!

That's what AOR is all about…fire that makes the blood moves the body.
